Teoyotica

Rector programs

Although we are not a “biosphere reserve” like “La Sepultura” which is located less than 5 kilometers from Teoyotica, yes we are a civil society organization that works to guarantee the safeguarding and balance of this habitat. We seek, through compliance with national and international standards on conservation and sustainability principles, building a culture of community co-responsibility, as well as prosperous societies with social and ecosystem values; reflective, participatory, and committed to their environment, through various educational programs and initiatives, promoting sustainable development between the rainforest and the population, fostering and intertwining environmental management with the protection of its resources; undertaking actions that favor forest governance and raise awareness for the reasonable use of natural resources and their preservation; that meet the needs of the inhabitants of Arriaga without having an irreversible impact on them.

Through a team of rangers who are knowledgeable about the geography of Teoyotica, as well as the social and environmental problems that we face, their job is to monitor and prevent first hand that ecocide is not committed against the various species of flora, as well as the illegal logging and hunting of wildlife, including mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds. Also, a perimeter gap is permanently created and maintained to the containment and spread of forest fires, since, given the effects of climate change, inextreme, unusual and timeless temperatures are recorded all over the world compared to the usual ones. each ecosystem, which causes catastrophic disasters in many of them, affecting their balance, compromising its very existence and consuming thousands of hectares each year.

On the other hand, they carry out monitoring, irrigation and pruning work related to conservation, with the purpose of assisting the balance of the ecosystem despite natural climatic conditions; that, for several years now, we have witnessed the delay of the rainy season and in general of the seasonal chronological change.”

The goal is to provide participants with lifelong career tools that will help them access more and better development opportunities, regardless of their location. The program is aimed at all interested adults, whether they are residents of Arriaga or those in transit who desire technical training that will help them find new jobs or become self-employed.

For migrants, they can learn several skills in a relatively short period of time, thus becoming more and more qualified to perform productive activities during their journey and wherever they settle. For those who are native or live in the community, they will contribute to their family economy and the progress of the municipality, which consequently contributes to achieving financial independence and strengthening their shared responsibility with the ecosystem.

Its purpose is to provide people with socio-emotional and community development skills for life through education in environmental, civic, and ethical values, as these are key elements in people's development. To this end, through the implementation of workshops, we can identify flaws and successes regarding our attitude and practices in relation to the ecosystem. In this way, we can generate reflective actions based on the assessment of what is good and bad for the ecological system, as well as the consequences that this can have on our lives and communities, present and future; benefiting human interaction with the biosphere, for the reconstruction of the socio-environmental fabric, of the culture of peace and solidarity as living beings. Since conservation must be conceived from a comprehensive approach, in this case, preventive, the program fulfills that purpose, so that the same people are the ones who care for Teoyotica. They will have a background in the importance of its conservation, and will foster, through their actions, respect and commitment to the nature that surrounds them, and consequently, will be an example for future generations.

It consists of the “Training Program in trade skills”; once completed, we manage and promote in collaboration with private sector institutions and socially responsible business chambers, areas of job opportunities and projects productive for participants, in which they can find employment or start their own business by putting the acquired skills and knowledge to use for their benefit economic and financial independence, as well as for the development of the municipality of Arriaga, or from their own communities of origin; which will consequently result in going, containing, discouraging, reducing and avoiding migration and family disintegration.
